Plans are underway for a new children’s play area and mini park in Holdenhurst Road, Springbourne.
A disused social services building and some allotments currently occupy the site, which Councillor Michael Filer hopes to transform into a first-rate area for kids to let off steam.
“At the moment there’s barely a single blade of grass here,” said Cllr Filer. “The current building there will be taken down within weeks, new trees will be planted here, and numerous play items will soon be available in the playground.”
“This year is Bournemouth’s bicentenary, and my wife Ann is the chairperson for the committee. As councillors and former Mayors of Bournemouth we want to leave a legacy to the area – an oasis in a concrete jungle.”
